2007     Challenges in Teaching Prehistory and Evolution in Kenya. AnthroNotes, 28(2): 6-9, Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of Natural History Department of Anthropology
In this article, the authors discuss the importance of teaching prehistory and evolution to pre-college students in Kenya. Not only would an early introduction to the material later lead to graduates who are educated in the area, but increased awareness of the past would also help to protect sites and foster national pride. The authors explain difficulties that teachers face, including textbooks that report different facts about evolution and difficult questions raised by students. The article then describes a workshop, convened by the Prehistory Club of Kenya, in which experts discussed how best to communicate information to students and how to provide teachers with accurate materials.
