2007     Learning from Las Vegas: Archaeology in the Experience Economy. The SAA Archaeological Record, 7(3): 6-10,25, Society for American Archaeology
This article discusses the use of historical and archaeological themes in popular culture, particularly in themed environments such as Disneyland and the Las Vegas Strip. The author argues that these themed environments are so popular because they engage people without appearing as restricted as the museum environment. The author discusses the motifs of archaeology that make the discipline so fascinating to the public. He argues that rather than fear these places that are often lacking in historical fact, archaeologists should use this chance to study what interests the public and address these subjects themselves.
